on missing an old friend

Where have you been?
What have you been doing?
Why haven't you wanted to speak to me?
Is there too much to say?
Or perhaps, not enough to say?

You seem paralyzed, held captive by the past.
You seem frozen, imprisoned in the present.
You seem entranced, fascinated with the future.

I need you.
I miss you.
I want you.

Your voice brings clarity.
Your creativity brings brightness.
Your wisdom brings tranquility.

Talk to me, please.
And I will listen.
And I will write.
