on America...
The lights grow dim, and shadows grow along the merry way,
A voice breaks in the distant fog, a fretful time draws near.
Now smiles fade and darkness falls, along the merry way,
The sky turns black, and rain pours fast, a storm for us to fear.

YOUR time to love. YOUR time to hate, along the merry way,
A chill is in the air tonight no stops to masquerade.
And yet an appetite lingers, along the merry way,
Indulge yourself just one more time, go join your last charade.

We fall into the dark of night, along the merry way,
No dance, no song, no story-time, our games will have to wait.
For freedom’s call is fading fast, along the merry way,
Shouts ring out to deafening ears; the hour is much too late.

The words are lost, and souls remised, along the merry way,
And who then will there be to stand, as we forget the past?
For men shall age, while shouts are left, along the merry way.
The finest hour has come and died, amidst the flames was cast.

The lights grow dim, and shadows grow along the merry way.
A voice breaks in the distant fog, a fretful time draws near.
Now smiles fade and darkness falls, along the merry way.
The sky turns black, and rain pours fast, a storm for us to fear.
