A Parent Watches Over A Slumbering Child
SLUMBER LAND

Golden fairies hide within your hair,
perched aloft your gentle brow.
A coat of plump doves you wear.
along your frame they're sleeping now.

Butterflies lie on eyes that rest,
fluttering to the music of dreams.
Lips quiver as a violin caressed,
as you flow on nocturnal streams

Furrows that sad visions built,
now change into tranquil smiles,
arising from sun that has been spilt,
on the dreamer who traveled for miles.

Did the angels dance before you,
chasing nighttime dragons away?
Did the sandman gently implore you,
With sandy lids to hide the coming day?

Your eyes and hands tell me a tale,
of your travels exciting and grand.
With happy gurgles you now regale,
the stories of far off Slumber Land.

Author's notes:
Even in sleep, we want to protect our children.
If they whimper, we come running to chase away
bad dreams. But we can trust in the LORD who
promised to give sweet slumber to his children.
