A heart, bottled up in a tiny glass jar, sitting in my hand
A heart

Bottled up in a tiny glass jar

Hanging on a thin, tiny thread

Sitting in my hand, smiling

Whose is it?

Where should it go?

The people around me look down

‘You of all people should know, right?’ they say

Quietly laughing as they walk away.

Why do they laugh?

This heart, it’s so small and fragile

That it will surely break

Why won’t you tell me?

Why must you walk away?

Please

The glass is broken now

The heart fell and shattered

Into a million shining pieces.

I told them didn’t I?

That it wasn’t strong enough.

The fragments are crunching under foot.

It was truly fragile, wasn’t it?

It really should have been stronger.

Stupid owner,

They should have paid more attention to their heart.
