a poem turned into a song
A moonlit summer night,
you close your eyes to find
the feelings lost so deep inside
So you drive,
the streetlights your guide.
Narrating all that was lost inside.

The streets seem to reflect
every memory you've kept,
holding on tightly
to what never might be.
The shadows they haunt you,
tease and taunt you,
the regrets of "one day,"
cause now it's too late.

A thousand memories,
each a tear in your eye.
These bittersweet dreams are
the hardest goodbye.
As you drive,
losing yourself in the night,
each slips away as you're
left to fight.

The streets that seem to reflect
every memory you've kept,
holding on tightly
to what never might be.
The shadows they haunt you,
tease and taunt you,
the regrets of "one day,"
cause now it's too late.

Each memory seems to come to life,
a movie in your mind.
Unwilling to move on, you hold on,
your vision leaving you blind

The streets just seem to reflect
every memory you've kept,
holding on tightly
to what never might be.
The shadows they haunt you,
tease and taunt you,
the regrets of "one day,"
cause now it's too late.
