Ancient Songs of Belonging

Simplistic rhythms hide in ancient songs
Now lost beneath lethargic hum called numb.
Monotonous abyss reflects the sum
Of life enslaved to works that don’t belong.
So many strive to make a matter long,
And ponder endless “whys” and things to come.
Philosophy amiss reflects the sum
Of life enslaved to thoughts that don’t belong.

A quiet soul seeks not to know but lives
From air unseen, much like a river flows
Far from its source, to do its part and give.
There’s wisdom found in nature’s book that shows
So much we’ve overlooked, about our motives
That don’t belong, in songs of life aglow.
