A poem about crispy worms the day after a rain.
Ill-dressed and ill-prepared
You tip though puddles
So we dance
‘round feet
‘round drops
For you
For you
Without fear
without thought
For you while we can
Injured friends squirm in terror
Its worth it for you
Its all for you
And when its done
Survivors slither back
While the remainder dries
The remainder a reminder
Of those minutes together
We live for you in the rain

When you return
We’re gone
Crispy friends lie in stead
Our dance together is done
We dance away from the sun
But don’t fret
We will see you again
Whenever its wet.
