Unrefined attempt to voice feelings for a friend who preferred popularity over friendship.
I would look at thee and think
Surely, thou art my greatest friend

I would cringe at the thought of parting
Recoil at a mention of the end

I'd cherish every frown, every grimace
Every laugh I would enshrine

But no longer

Not since the day it soared away
Upon the wings of time

Not now that thou have changed
Into one I've grown to hate

For I hate thee now
With a hatred more fatal than indifference

I look at thee and think
Surely, thou were my greatest folly

I cringe at every pathetic memory
I hold of thy laughter

And I curse thee
Whom I loved so much

To die with the thousand acquaintances thou picked over me
But not one true friend
