Based on real life experience. Wrote this as memory
A Second Glance

You volunteered to be my model
As I started my photography career
We became friends and
Everyday, you called and messaged me
Oh we're just friends, I said to myself

Give me a chance, said you
I want to love you and show you
What it's like to be loved
Oh you're just kidding, I said to myself

I had a fight with my family
Angry and hurt, I felt misunderstood
What's wrong? You asked me
Come on out and let's take a walk
Oh it's weird to see you when I'm angry! I said to myself

Another man asked me on a date
We giggled and laughed
And felt connected
Walking hands in hands under the starlit night
Where were you tonight? You asked
I'm not interested in you, I said to myself

He cheated on me when he said he loved me
I let it go when he apologized
Give me a chance to love you, said you again
But I'm so in love with another man, I said to myself

Three years have gone by
I've forgotten to keep in touch with you
I took you for granted and now where have you gone?
This man I've loved so much
Loved, but was never in love with me
I knew it from the start but sigh love can be so blind, I said to myself

What are you up to today? I was amazed at your timing
Oh nothing just same ol' work
Let's have dinner tonight, how about it? You insist
I guess it wouldn't hurt, I said to myself

We went and had dinner together
You were such a gentleman and wouldn't let me pay
The air was cold when we went for a walk
Look at the beautiful stars, you pointed to the sky
I looked up and you slid my hand into yours
My heart skipped faster unexpectedly
Was this what I had missed out on? I asked myself

And so you hugged me good night
I was surprised when you didn't let me go
Let this be forever, you whispered in my right ear
Warm, tender, loving and caring
I felt all that from you--

I took another glance
And asked myself,
Why did I not see it before?
This second glance around,
All I could see was the love in your eyes.
