The dark side of unrequited love.
You’re a creature of fire
Molten gold running through your veins
While I skulk in the shadows
Covered with the rank odour of the gutter

Your impartial kindness is undiluted cruelty
Your brightness does not warm my soul
Your light throws my darkness into sharp relief
And I curse my fate

Your existence has sentenced me to obscurity for life
I find my flaws insurmountable
Your perfection unforgivable
And the difference between us unbearable

I despise you
I want you
I want to smear hot tar on your perfect face
I want to cherish you forever

Smile at me again
So that I can dream of breaking you
Consuming you, ruining you
Becoming you

Brush past me again
Let me brand your scent into my being
And chain your soul to mine
Let me lock you away
'Til you exist in only my memory

Look at me again
Get entangled in my despair
Won’t you borrow my shadows for a while?
Won’t you lend me your sparkle?

I watch you
Wanting to be you
Wanting you to be me
To drain you, empty you
And fill my hollowness
