A poem I wrote on our economy.
"Mommy can I have that toy?"

The two year old cooed.

She is too young to understand,

We are in a bad economy.

People getting laid off,

Companies shutting down.

The two year old doesn't notice,

Her mommy's frown.

Her mommy got laid off,

Her daddy left town.

He's looking for a job,

So he doesn't let his family down.

They put their faith in God,

Hoping things will be okay.

The two year old is young,

But her parents worry everyday.

"Mommy can I have that toy?"

Tears are in her mother's eyes.

"Maybe another day sweetie."

She's said she is telling her daughter lies.
