"Footprints"

Feelings of sadness, sorrow and pain,
loom over my heart like clouds of rain.
My life is a mess, a jumbled mass of confusion,
makes me wonder - is happiness a delusion.
Smiling each day while crying inside,
Isolating my mind with the hurt I hide.
With each corner turned a new pain is found,
each time trying to set new ground.
Somehow I always seems to fall back,
to life's injustices that threw me off track.
Disloyalty and dishonesty I will never forget,
Fifteen years later, no forgiveness yet.
While my heart bleeds, an answer I must find,
to the path of greater existence and peace of mind.
I depend on God and a small miracle too,
friends and family...young, old and new.
Open your arms, your ears and your heart,
to me and to anyone who needs a new start.
For now I must be carried, there will only one set of footprints in the sand,
while you love me, respect me, listen to me, be my friend, hug me and hold my hand.
