I wrote this in September. There is nothing more beautiful than an autumn morning.
I hug my blanket tightly to my body, and try feebly to open my eyes
The frigid air washes over me, a window has been left open

My face cracks in a sleepy smile as I realize September has greeted me with an icy handshake
“Close the window!” I shout. getting out from under the comforting warmth of my covers was not an option until the window was shut

Autumn, my favorite time of year, had a familiar bite in the air as I stepped into the hallway, the heater not yet on
I donned a sweater and headed outside to fully appreciate the onset of Fall

The delicate leaves fluttered to the ground, caressing the air as they descended
The array of colors filled my heart with joy and the soft breeze ruffled my hair

My face numb, I climbed to the top of the towering oak residing in my backyard
From my perch overlooking my neighborhood, cloaked in a sea of reds, purples, and oranges, I silently mouthed “Thank you”
