This is a comical poem I wrote this when I had so many problems on the phone.
My first commitment of the morning to take, is a call I have to make.
Listening to the ring, waiting for an answer “Hello”
To my surprise she gives me a choice with her very real sounding voice.
Of numbers or a name, or a website to sing.
Its all about waiting to be connected,
When all of a sudden there is a sound, its music I hear and not a voice.
What happened? I ask, to my surprise.
I am on hold how can this be?
I begin to hit the pound sign again and again,
I plead, grant me patience Lord, but hurry.
I pace the floor in a scurry.
Oh Lord, Give me what it is I need.
I just called to get some info, I do not wish to take too long.
I wait and wait while I listen to a song.
I just need someone to listen.
Here my plea, don’t you see?
Give me the right to talk please.
I started this call in the morn, I am now forlorn, for it is nigh, oh me oh my!
Please give me an answer for what I need.
With what to my ears I hear,
A voice! Oh my it is to believe. “Hello, hello, are you there?
Then what is it that I hear?
Oh no, I panic, this is not my plan.
Can this be? I don’t understand.
I begin to talk and explain, when once again I hear a melody.
What is this familiar sound? I'm on hold again!
To hear a person is all I need.
I feel this is a game,
when over and over it is the same.
You are being transferred I am told.
Help me if you can. When once again I am put on hold!
This was not the plan what is this all leading to?
I forgot why I am calling or even who!
I am withdrawn, and halfway sitting in my chair.
I give a yawn, when what do I hear?
A voice, telling me, “Our office is now closed, please call back tomorrow“.
Oh what pain, oh what sorrow.
With a tear on my cheek and a scratch to my voice I answer aloud,
“Do I have a choice?
