walking away when you know its all that's left to do
They knock you down,
I pick you up.
The bottle falls,
you've drunk enough.
But still, step by step, twelve passed us by,
and still you never said goodbye.
When golden liquid tells a tale,
memories collide.

What keeps me here? I cannot say.
No longer love in any way.
I watch you stumble through that door,
knowing I can't help you anymore.

Many years have taken their toll,
and now I walk away from you.
I will not answer when you call,
no pity lurks within my soul.

They knock you down,
and down you stay.
No more counting,
no more days.
The burning liquid has reached its goal,
the bottle lies down below.
