First Entry for Writer's Cramp
Losing Your Voice
March 26th
22 lines

No matter how good my idea seems, it’s always been done before :)

An eerie silence punctuated
By fledgling thought annunciated.
Cardiac rhythm skips a few beats
As I skip to my keyboard, the idea replete.
With a new way to solve this old problem of mine,
I’ll soon change the world and retire in due time.

But a moment of search
Reveals siblings a plenty,
For my pristine idea,
Now seems so elementary.
Amongst thousands of hits I fade into the mist,
Too late to count, opportunity missed.
I’m last to a beleaguered league of solutions,
A lone voice in thousands of other conclusions.

They hold up a mirror
To my rank in the world,
My own powerful voice
Crushed and going unheard.
Amongst countless creatives that seem to sweat treasure,
Their genius reducing my own meagre measure.
I gaze at the list of jewels better than mine,
And know dream of retirement will take some more time.
