For the Stormy's Poetry newsletter contest.
Fierce sun torches me, I suffer.
Desperate with thirst I slither.
I wish I could roam about in
A bower and rest in an inn.

Heat stings me with brutal rashes,
With frustration teeth gnashes.
I feel like roasted in a furnace,
Severe perspiration, no less.

Crawling on the wings of fancy,
To a quaint place I wish to flee.
A land where birds chirp and twitter.
Pervades the air, perfume of myrhh.

I will gorge the juicy berries
Of myrtle and watch the birdies,
Hovering above me with glee.
Their freedom shackled by no key.

Gallons of fresh water I drink,
Vortices of misery sink.
Rejuvenated and refreshed,
Ample happiness felt, enmeshed.

Ouch! I look at the red pimple,
Burning like that sun in April.
Vanishes imagination,
Head toward real destination.
