Things can't always be forgotten

Barbed intruders

Years have gone by
With all that spite
You thinking you're always being in the right
Others left behind in your wake always left asking why
All the brow beatings that they all took
You walking away with the feeling of being off the hook
You sleeping so peaceful at night
Your victims staying awake focusing on the next day's plight
What are left behind are the screams of internal quest for peace
Avoidance is their only defense
Always walking on eggshells
Fighting back only leads to more disgrace
The rest of the day with egg on their face
Friends betrayed them having become enemies
Their need to bond with you so to make their days easier
When will this constant intrusion of intrusive slivers end!
Inching their way deeper in with their barbs of permanence
Thoughts of being older was supposed to be the answer to their prayers
Now it has now become but a mere sliver in their silent moments
Incessant torments of past thoughts along with vivid visions of past horrors
Always infiltrating the quiet pauses between thoughts
With no ability of forgetting trying to forgive
All they can do with these intrusions is to keep trying to continue to live...
