Plushies in the store,
waiting for adoption
waiting for a new home.
Awaiting a child to spot them
as "the one,"
and bring them back
to a life of love, and a forever home.
I see them and want them all.
Plushies on my bed,
so many I can't fit
unless I rearrange
them
into a pyramid,
all along the wall.
But by the time I get them all arranged,
and make sure nobody's left out,
or fallen back on the sheets,
the sun has set and it's time to sleep.
I climb into bed
and snuggle in tight.
Plushies in a pyramid,
watching over me as I sleep.
I wish them all good night.
We'll play once more in the morning,
when the sun rises,
and we can play the day away.
