I wrote this about one of my friends. I have a mental illness, and he helps me through it.
Dolls

E. G. Daniels

I'm a paper doll.

I'm not porcelain.

I'm not as pretty,

Not as nice.

People see the other dolls

And they pass me by.

The other dolls have ruffles and lace.

I'm made of paper and paste.

They're picture perfect.

I'm torn beyond repair.

People don't see me.

They just walk by.

Yet, you stop.

You look at me,

Rather than past me.

And you see something;

Something others don't.

You see beauty,

Where others see brokenness.

You see beauty,

When I don't even see it in myself.

You see me.

All of me.

The bad and the good.

And you stay by me anyway.
