Our national pastime
Baseball

A mighty nation’s special game,

The world was never quite the same

Once some guy name of Doubleday

Taught men, and boys too, how to play.

The rules are simple, as we know,

To swing a bat, and catch and throw,

To run the baselines, never roam

Outside them ‘til you’ve made it home.

Beneath the summer’s golden sun

The crowd roars out at each home run.

Each time a bat cracks, it enthralls

The cheering fans who watch the balls

Sail through the pleasant summer air.

Was ever there a game so fair?
