The reason for the season.
The Glorious Deciduous

Autumn steps right up after sleepy summer ends
leaves of yellow purple red and golden wonderment
glorious deciduous shed upon my yard
when autumn calls it quits—I’m always caught off guard

Massive moldering mounds of shriveled lifeless leaves
dense, smokey, acrid air, impossible to breathe
the reason for the season? learning give-and-take
Magic! And then I rake and rake and rake and rake...
