Pre-diabetic Blues
Pre-diabetic Blues

When I was diagnosed
with pre-diabetics
blood sugar levels
dangerously high.

I realized that there are
So many things I can
no longer eat.

Damn it,
a man sometimes
just want to eat
a burger and fries.

I am traveling back to the States
in two weeks
and while there I will no doubt,

enjoy eating a forbidden
big traditional
fully loaded American Breakfast
bacon, grits, ham, omelet, hash browns
blueberry pancakes with maple syrup,
washed down with coffee.

Eating it may kill me
But I will die happy.

NEW PROMPT: Tomorrow, May 11, is Eat What You Want Day. Write a story or poem about someone finally getting to eat what they actually want.
