Sixty years ago, an exhibit at the Bronx Zoo startled visitors with one simple fact...

I'm looking at the most dangerous animal in the world

...and it doesn't scare me.

King of the beasts. Who knew?

I feel like I'm safe somehow.

That in my day-to-day if I stay

aware,

stay confident

it will just move along, looking for something seemingly weaker than me.

In an ocean of one's own reflection it is hard to choose a mark.

And it is simply a reflection. That alone.

I see my own face behind the bars upon the mirror

upon the wall in the zoo.

I had come to see the animals and hadn't realized I was one.

And free outside the confines of any exhibit.

The most dangerous animal in the world.
