Woke up, found themselves
Out of their favorite Earl Grey tea.

They rode their bike
Riding double to the store,
Putting things in the bike basket
Enjoying the fine Spring day.

Gliding downhill
Until they had a flat tire.

They parked their bike
With a broken lock.
Outside a dubious-looking bar.

They went into the bar
Watched the news
About the alien invasion

The bartender did not
Have Earl Grey
It was a working-class dive.

They went outside the bar
Their bike was gone
The alien ships were landing
Rounding up everyone.

They ended the day
In a labor camp.

Sam and Sandra
Sighed saying,

“Wish we had time
For a cup of Earl Grey
For a day without Earl Grey
Is not a good day.’
