A contemplative walk in the rain
I took a walk in the rain
Along fresh asphalt and crisp new lines
Under hanging trees with dripping leaves
Drip, drop, drip, drop

I took a walk in the rain
Past the church with its pale brick and mortar
Somber under the grey overcast sky
As raindrops race down roof tile and window alike

I took a walk in the rain
Contemplating words and lore
While gentle mosses grow
Along worn, well-trod paths

I took a walk in the rain
As even the most minor annoyances
Fade softly away into nothing
With each gentle drop

I took a walk in the rain
Up one street and down another
Until my feet began to lead me home again
On those well-trod paths

I took a walk in the rain
To clear away my worries and stress
And gather all the little idea sparks about my head
And I'm so very glad I did
