Sleepover In The Lounge

Jean Chateau bent over and kissed Amber Gris on both cheeks lightly.

“Good to see you my friend," she said as she moved over to take a seat at the back-lit bistro table.

“It has been a while since we last saw each other, especially here,” Amber said.

“You know what’s funny? I had a really strange dream. In fact, it was last night!”

“Do tell!” urged Jean.

“We were here at the Dreamweaver Lounge, but we were giggly teenaged girls having a sleep-over.”

“Really? Is that why you wanted us to get together here?” wondered Jean.

Amber blushed. Jean laughed.

“A sleepover? I had a few in my younger years, but never in a lounge! Not even in college!”

The two women laughed together at the picture they saw in their mind’s eyes. Quickly sobering, Amber stirred her drink.

“I wished we’d known each other back in those years,” Amber commented.

“Yes, I think we’d have liked each other then too.” Jean answered.

“It’s a wonder this place is so quiet. It’s Saturday night!” Amber opined.

“We could take our catch-up chat somewhere livelier, if you want,” Jean offered.

“Unfortunately, that usually means so loud we’d have to shout to hear each other.”

“Yeah, this is perfect for conversational whispers.”

Just as Amber said that a chorus of whispers began to build in the room. The two women writers looked around, but all they saw were shadows.

“It seems the night heats up even here. Is that Lilli? There’s some of our other friends. Let’s mingle and talk shop. Maybe we can have some karaoke later.”

Jean slapped her forehead and ducked down.

“Please, no karaoke! It makes me laugh too hard!

“But that’s what the Dreamweaver's Lounge is famous for! Maybe we’ll even sleepover!”
