Music maestro please!
Though he'd never had a single lesson
Maurice knew he'd shock them all.
Sure his prowess would impress 'em,
As he conducted at the Albert Hall.

Confident he climbed the podium,
Turned and took the slightest bow.
Silence fills the auditorium.
Wonder what will happen now?

The orchestra pit was clearly lacking.
With not an instrument to be seen.
Who on earth had given backing,
To so very strange a scene?

Maurice's arms whirled and waved.
The orchestra's response was swift.
The audience got their music craved.
Surely Maurice had the gift.

A roll of drums. A distant cymbal.
Every sound was plainly heard.
Violins flowed with fingers nimble.
How could this be? It was absurd!

Finally before they withdrew,
They played aloud 'God Save The Queen.'
After which I have to tell you.
Audience and band were quite unseen.
