a storm on the sea
The challenge was to write about something wild. I got so carried away with this poem, that I forgot it was for the Express it in 8 contest. *Laugh* Well, I hope you enjoy reading.

The Fate of The Molly Fair

So suddenly, the wet winds blew
and tore the sailor's mast in two,
then rocked the waves so fierce against his craft.
The clouds burst forth torrential rain
that beat the boat with naught to gain
but shred The Molly Fair into a raft.

He slowed his speed to match the tide,
prepared The Molly Fair to ride
the storm until the angry waves receded.
He climbed the mast with heavy rope
to tie the broken ends and hope
the little time it held was all he needed.

Although at tacking, he was skilled,
the winds increased and sails they filled,
until the mast again came crashing down.
So he surrendered to the storm -
its strength outmatched this human form -
and he deployed the anchor from the bow.

The storm with fury tore the boat
and left the sailor out to float
upon a wooden raft, in all his shame.
Til finally, the storm had past
sailor and raft had peace at last.
The roaring beast of the sea was finally tame.
