this is a poem I wrote that tells a symbolic story of relationships
Ghost of Love

the ghost of love came to me
with outstretched arms of welcome
and I freely settled in its shelter
hands and arms comforting as a mother's womb
I nessled in its security as life passed by
I lived a new life, exclusively for love
as it eased my mind and my world

the ghost of love is with me, and all is well
but as sudden as it came, it begins to turn cold
every so slowly so I do not know of my fate
its hands turn to icy claws and arms of numbness
its heart of gold to stone, as my life diminishes
as its arms let go, I hold on so tightly
a single grain of sand in my hand

the grain is abruptly washed away from my grip
arms of numbness give way, and I fall
to a graveyard where no ghost can enter
only the ghost of a broken heart

the ghost of love is coming for me again
with the same arms and heart as before
but I shed a tear at the sight of the visitor
for I do not know this ghost anymore

but I will again be scooped up
into the arms of love
and repeat the same vicious cycle as before
until I am intoduced to another visitor
not a ghost, but an alive being
yes, can it be?
for love never lasts when recieved from death
but rather from the brightness and joy of life
