First Sight

Over a thousand thoughts, more then a thousand emotions,
Not able to move, but feeling able to cross oceans.
Nothing making sense, nothing stating fact,
Wondering if my state of mind was still firmly intact.

Not knowing what to do, not knowing what to say,
Wanting to do something, yet wanting to run away.
Just standing there paralyzed, staring, with no other cares,
Wondering if God now had finally answered my prayers .

There was no question; I knew I loved you at first sight,
Insanely hoping that my feelings this time, were right.
Hoping you felt the same but not sure at all;
Hoping beyond hope that your feelings were anything but small.

You took my breath away and I was anything but fine,
Racing over the thought that someday you could be mine.
Finally feeling alive and above the world itself,
Finally feeling like a part of something, no longer by myself.

I remember how I felt on that day long ago,
The day sticks in my mind, and I wonder if you know.
Wishing that it never passed, wishing it could always go on,
But accepting now that that time is gone.
