This is a poem describing today's teen problems.
I don't want to be some "typical" teen
Who gives up her future for lost.
Who wouldn't try
And now wants to die
And doesn't care about the cost.

I don't want to be some wild teen
who snuck into a bar.
She had one too many
Thought twenty was plenty,
And lost control of her car.

I don't want to be some lonely teen
Who has nothing to say.
No friends for backup
To laugh with and crack up,
So she considers one only way...

I don't want to be some risky teen
Who thought it might be cool,
To sleep with some guy
Who then left her without a goodbye
And had to drop out of school.

I don't want to be an experimental teen
Who thought it's just the first time.
Who just had a "bit"
But before she could quit,
Overdosed and lost her life.

I do, however, want to be a teen
Who knows just what she wants.
Who loves her life
The way it is it's just right,
Who these bad choices will never haunt.
