Love so great never leaves someone alone
The solemn young man stood silently
weeping by the newly covered grave,
its barren ground dead as his heart.
His mind screamed in voiceless words
as the pain he felt tore him through.

The woman, whom no one could see,
grieved with him as she stood by.
A gentle hand touched his cheek
like the slightest cool breeze,
tenderly drying the tormented tears.

He glanced around, saw nobody near,
but a thought seemed to tickle,
sounded as if spoken in his ear,
"I'll always be here in your heart.
While you need me, you'll never be alone."

A few years passed, as they always do.
The man now older, more mature,
stood beside the grave no longer bare.
A hint of sadness touched his eyes
as he touched the cold, hard stone.

"I've come to say goodbye," he said.
"But you probably already know.
Well, I met someone not long ago.
Funny, I always felt you near until
Before she came - I never felt alone."
