Just a little poem, about love, and possibly more.
I spent an hour doing my makeup yesterday
Jet black eyeliner, lip gloss raspberry bouquet
And I did it just to mess with your imagination
To cause a little temptation, a little desperation
But instead I was met with hesitation and the realization
That I was falling hard in anticipation
For so much more

I dyed my hair to bring back the blonde you first met
The one with the vodka and the cigarettes
Who smelled of vanilla and a bit of skunked beer
And would tell you everything you'd want to hear
Who would do anything to get you alone in a room
Who was easy to seduce and quick to assume
That you were even in to me to begin with

I watch the phone to see if you'll call
When I know the chances are small
Cause you're doing the same thing
We're both waiting for that phone to ring
And I'll eventually give in
Waiting for you to pick up and let me smile
Knowing I haven't smiled in a while
Cause I haven't been with you

So I put that vodka back in the cabinet above the sink
Beside the eyeliner and lip gloss stained with pink
And I threw out the cigarettes and the rest of the beer
And I know that's what you really want to hear
Cause you care about me and want what's best
And I value your opinion above the rest
Cause I love you
And I care so much about you
And I never want to lose you
Even though I know I wont
