Piece discussing current unrest in the world.
There is a domestic disturbance here today.
Yes a disturbance domestically I said
When as a people we look fear in the eyes and protect our eyes from its glare
Fear has caused this disturbance in America today

I walk the streets of New York seeing blackened eyes as suffering continues
Some say we must take care of our own here, before over there
We are from over there; our heritage and our history are from there.

And yet somehow we forget all this, cause we have Lady Liberty on our side
And she never looks down upon us anymore, because now she can’t stand what she sees
She feels this disturbance as she weeps into the waters that surround her causing waves crashing into our shores.

I can feel this disturbance with every emotionless word I hear from leaders unwilling to free themselves from a political agenda.
I can smell this disturbance as they choose
Death over Life
Hate over Love
Pain over Joy
Rich over Poor

There is a disturbance there today.
As young people detonate bombs killing those that would be old one day.
Over religious claims I will never understand, creating killing fields in God’s land.
If only they could find that thread that binds them together, no disturbances would occur today.

Will there be a disturbance tomorrow
Or can we strive for change
Evolution demands change not only from our genetic makeup,
But of our souls as well

Domestically I am Disturbed today!
