Martha has a unique security system. 300 words
Alarm System

Martha could hear her cat Tidbit growling a warning. She could see that her ears were both back. She stood up and walked over to her precious pet.

“What’s the matter, puss?”

Tidbit’s growling escalated.

“Show me, girl!”

The sleek grey and black cat headed straight to the sliding door. She sat and stared outside. Martha stood concealed in one of the curtains she used to cover the door when she slept. She looked past the edge and saw a shadow.

She pulled her revolver from her waistband and quietly opened the door. The rare grey and black tiger slipped out the opening and soundlessly pounced. A single terrified scream broke the silence.

“Tidbit, hold!” she said as she widened the door and stepped out.

“Loose Tidbit!” Martha ordered when she had her gun aimed at the stranger.

“Let’s see some ID, “she said to the man her cat was sitting on.

“I left it in my car.”

“Get that thing off me!”

“What made you target my home?” the agent asked.

“I didn’t see no dog, so I thought it would be an easy mark!”

Martha barked a short laugh. She snapped her fingers and Tidbit got off the man and came to her side to sit. Her mistress grabbed her collar tightly.

“What’s your name?” she asked as he sat up holding his thigh.

“I’m bleeding! I need help!”

“In good time,” Martha said as she dialed 911.

“My name is Niger Kingman,” he moaned.

“Hang in Niger, Help’s here.”

Martha went back in and closed and locked the door slider. When the knock of the rescuers came on her front entrance, she directed them to the back.

“Good girl, Tidbit,” Martha cooed as she gave her pet some raw ground meat with a cream chaser.
