“Champions!” trumpeted the Conquestor so all could hear.

“I have written up the decree. If any of you three, who represent the races of people in this country, manage to make it back here to the capitol in three days' time, I will free any of the people the winner or winners represent. After which, I will depart with my people for a new land immediately”

“Be aware, the champion who wins will be expected to set up his own government for his people. As for the others, it will be to each their own.”

Andi, Elano and Gole looked at each other.

“I say that we make sure we win together, so all will be free,” Gole suggested.

The other two nodded. They mounted their solar powered glasssleds and fired them up.

“I think we can be sure there will be attempts at sabotage along the way,” Andi telepathed to the others.

“We must be vigilant,” Elan responded.

A cannon boomed, just missing the three as they shot off.

They were well into the race, when a cloud began to fill the sky.

“Necromancy, to slow us down,” Andi signaled.

“When you begin to falter, turn on your solar battery storage at once. All three of us must succeed!” Elan suggested.

By sunset, the three racers were back in the capitol and saluting the Conquestor. Seeing it was a tie, the dictator was barely containing his rage. The people were restless when he hesitated to leave.

“We will see you off, shall we?” said all three winners. In one mighty blast of their combined solar cannons, the cruel alien ruler and his minions were vaporized.

“Now the real work begins. But first we celebrate!” they announced to the cheers of their combined peoples.
