May 2022 Prompt #6

Prompt: Describe the plot of one of your favorite comedy movies WITHOUT saying the movie's title. Challenge your readers to guess the title of the movie you described.

I can think of two hilarious movies, and they both star Tom Hanks.

One hits close to home for me. We are at the tail end of remodeling our century-old home. We’ve found some pretty hilarious problems. Nothing of the sort portrayed in this movie, however. I won’t give away any plot points. But let’s just say: buyer beware if or when you think of buying a fixer-upper.

We bought our home as-is. It was pretty nice, but after living in it for year, we knew we wanted to make changes. So we remodeled with an eye to making it more period, not more modern.

Another one is a funny movie about a boy who wishes to be an adult. But he’s still a boy in an adult body. He looks like an adult but thinks like a child, much to the chagrin of a woman who finds him attractive. But his ideas land him a job as toy designer and tester. Of course, the whole movie is just silly stupid fun, and of course this could never happen. But isn’t that why we like some movies and books? Reality is rarely fun to watch.

So, what two movies am I describing?
