"Adiemus" - Miriam Stockley & Mary Carewe
When I first heard this, I misidentified it as probably being part of the soundtrack to The Mission. But this is Karl Jenkins, not Ennio Morricone, with Miriam Stockley as the soloist and Mary Carewe doing sterling work on the additional vocals. The music is "a mix of African-tribal and Celtic-style melodies", so it's a testament to my musical ear (or lack thereof) that I was immediately put in mind of a movie set in 18th century Paraguay. And before you ask, the lyrics are intentionally meaningless, so any similarity to any known language is purely coincidental - and that includes the title, which is most definitely NOT latin.
Strangely enough, I don't have a copy of the Sanctuary CD from which this came (yes, I am an old git and still get CDs and DVDs), though I do have a later work - The Armed Man - that I may include in a later entry.
And, finally, I've got to put a picture of the man himself in here, just for the epic moustache.
