Candy Wrapper
A discarded crumpled up piece of paper
colorful and coated with wax.
It flies in the breeze with no set destination...
Content to go wherever the wind carries it.

It's worthless now but once it was a guardian
protecting a sweet prize within.
Ensuring a moment of joy to the one who unwrapped it,
its purpose is now fulfilled.

Prompt: "WRITE A POEM ABOUT SOMETHING WORTHLESS." for "EIGHT, the Weekend - 06.16.24"  Open in new Window.
Word Count: 59 words
Line Count: 8 Lines

Authors Note: I was picturing a Starburst wrapper when writing this. It is one of my favorite types of candies.
