week 23 Retired Old Man Sitting by a Lake in Southern Oregon


Sam Adams
Was recently retired
And moved
To Southern Oregon

He would often
go for a walk

dressing in the Oregon male uniform
Kakhi, Pendleton plaid Western shirt.

boots, baseball cap
and scraggly beard
the full mountain man look.

sitting by a lake
in Ashland’s Lithia’s Park.

watching the deer
frolicking nearby
and the squirrels
playing in the trees.

thinking back
on his life
and how he ended
sitting by this lake.

on a fine summer day
in a peaceful mood,
Drinking Kombucha,
and Latte Coffee,

watching life
pass him by.
