Summer time In DC Drinking Ice Tea Summertime in DC The weather is hot and humid, Political madness blaring from the TV. outside like a sauna tropical misery everywhere. thunder storms heavy rain flash floods. inside cranking up the Aircon until it is too cold. I sit and try To cope Watching the news Filled with political nonsense Nothing makes sense anymore. Turning off the news Listening to the blues. Drinking ice cold Iced coffee, tea, and lemonade Staying cool , Trying to beat the heat. As the world turns Ignoring me And my complaints. I drink my iced tea And smile, At the absurdity Of it all.
