A Mother's Love
A mother’s Love
My mother
Was a difficult woman
To love
She had grown up
In an abusive family
Fled home at age 18
Never to return
She never talked much
About her childhood
But one thing was clear
I was her favorite child
Because of all her children
I was the only that got her
She left this world
After a bout of Alzheimer's
In 2007.
And I miss her every day

Far, Far Away (E)
A poem for my daughters, Kat and Lucy

Tho in miles you seem far, far away
in my heart you're close at hand.
And in my heart, you'll always stay
with a love that will withstand.
No matter where you choose to go
don't you ever feel dismayed.
There's something you should always know,
your Momma's love will never fade.
