WHEN I SAY FINAL GOODBYE: a sonnet
WHEN I SAY FINAL GOODBYE: a sonnet
[The last moment is best spent thinking of Him rather than the world around]
When my turn comes to say final goodbye
And cast a parting look on those around;
Shall I utter a weak and helpless sigh?
Shall there be tears in my hopeless eyes found?
Shall I tell them for one last time again
To take care of what all I leave behind?
Shall I crave for a pill to ease my pain?
Shall I be totally blank in my mind?
I wish that if He grants me consciousness,
During my last moments, I may thus pray:
“To serve you I have not been effortless.
To you I have nothing but this to say--
Forgive me for the sins I committed,
Though I have others for their sins hated”.
