Prompt: Favorite Actor and Musicians and Why The Lani Awards Here we are for the Annual Lani awards given to actors and actresses of the highest quality and to musical stars of all genres. First up is Best Musical group. This a tough category and the competition stiff. There are groups from the '70's like Alabama, Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet band, Chicago & the Eagles. From the '80's is Tears for Fear, Flock of Sea Gull. Van Halen, Styx, REO Speedwagon & Bon Jovi. Our judge grew up in the 70's and came of age in the '80's She has a great distaste for disco but loves the hair bands. Mid west rock ruled. In the '90's the musical taste of our judge shifted and Christian groups made their first appearance at our award. Groups like Point of Grace with their 24 consective #1 hits. And Mercy Me and Casting Crowns are the two new favorites of our judge for the 2000's. And winner is a tie! Pre Christian: Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band. Best know for Old Time Rock and Roll but the judge also likes Turn the Page Current Fav is Mercy Me. Best Know hit is probably I can only Imagine but this video is call So Long Self which is fun and profound. EnjoyBest Singer Category: Our judge loves the singer/ songwriters and the contenders are reflected in the choice. Our contenders are Dan Fogelberg who wrote the greatest love/poem song of all time in the judge's opinion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3-VF7xd_KE&feature=related Mark Schultz tells awesome stories that make you laugh and cry. Letter from War will break your heart. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ul0mufXelPY but Running to Catch Myself is a scream especially set to hobbits! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUsL7rYFJSA Michael Card writes songs that help people understand Biblical concepts. He wrote the judge's # 1 favorite Christmas album called the Promise. It goes through the Christmas story in song. This is Joseph's song. It's popular on Christian radio. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BARVAg0gl6w And, of course,Steven Curtis Chapman. The judge has followed his career since the early 90's. His latest is a heartbreaker as his youngest daughter died this year.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLYxtuC0oRk Kim Hill and Amy Grant get a mentioned by the judge. The judge, unable to make a decision, will continue to enjoy their music for a long time. Favorite Actor: Favorite Black and White Star (older movies) Humphrey Bogart. The Maltese Falcon is classic Bogart, and Casablanca makes him greatest leading man ever. Favorite Actor: Modern is tough. The judge enjoys Action/Adventure so the leads are different than Chick Flicks, and Drama. The contenders are Arnold S. for Action/Adventure, Colin Firth for Chick Flicks, Nick Cage for Drama and Overacting. And the winner is Colin Firth. You'll see why at the end of the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdYeQRH3VYI A new award has been issued from the judge this year called: Most Puzzling Actor: Ben Affleck Our judge loved him in Shakespeare in Love, but in everything else he seems too aware that he is actor as in "Oh yes I must smile here". The movie Paycheck was a good, but after it was done something felt off. The judge's husband said, "His friend the Bourne guy (Matt Damon) would have done it better." If IT geek noticed the bad acting, its bad. Favorite Actress: Favorite Black and White Star: Katherine Heparine. The Philadephia Story is classic. The movies she made with Spencer Tracy are so funny and good. Guess Whose Coming to Dinner is Hollywood at its social best. Favorite Actress: Modern. The judge feels the go to girl is Meryl Streep. If you need drama, get her in your movie. However, she does comedy. The Rosanne movie She-devil was not as good as it could have been, but Ms Streep take on the Romance Writer / Mistress was very funny. Another all a round great actress is Emma Thompson. She does drama and comedy equally well. The judge feel Ms Thompson must have a interesting sense of humor. She adapted Sense & Sensibily (1995) and Nanny McPhee (2005). The winner is Kate Winslet! Okay I ( the judge ) was bribed by the guys on another writers forum (and you know who you are) to give the coveted award to Ms. Winslet. Even though she is a fine actress and the judge enjoyed her performances in Neverland and Sense & Sensibilty, I'm not sure she warrents a shrine on our forum. Oh well a bribe is a bribe. I'll be expecting checks soon. I will be closing this out by saying it was nice to write something not too serious today especially after work. |
