Light and Shadow
Light and Shadow

Lost in the joyful carnival of life
hardly aware of the ultimate end,
we live our separate lives
swinging from age to age
not knowing when we fall
to the lurking death
ready to fold us
in shadowy depths.

Should we live in fear
of the inevitable close
of the breathing process,
or should we go on
playing like children
making the best
of life, a gift of God
unconcerned of how
or when we die?

Lines: 17
A poem on a picture prompt depicting Life and Death.
