Be True To Yourself Miss Sixteen
They say 16 is sweet
But really it is no treat.
A teenagers life is so flawed.
Living life under parental prod
Learning about life and love is messy
Finding style is important, not just dressy
It speaks of who you are, when you barely just know
It's like looking for cover, when it's only for show.
Years will pass, maturity grows
And young woman, you will find the right clothes
That say who you are and what you stand for
Be courageous and stay authentic to the core
Don't cower behind societal pressure
Stay strong and be life's refresher.
Learn to know your own mind
Be true to your kind
And maybe one day we can take back our power
And right the wrongs that keep us back - empower
Your generation will seek to guide
Those younger than you will no longer hide
Behind societal expectations and restraint
Don't let the world dictate something you ain't.
