Deadl..." with prompt to write something related to Dionne Warwick's song, "What the World Needs Now is Love." I'm supposed to write something on the song, "What the World Needs Now is Love." I've never really listened to the lyrics before, though I'm familiar with the refrain. I get the idea and the sentiment, but don't fully agree with all of the lyrics. First, I'm not sure about, "There are cornfields and wheat fields enough to grow" as many people will agree that we are losing our farmland and it is becoming harder to feed the world's growing population. I especially think farmland, especially productive farmland, is a problem in some places, like many nations in Africa. Also, I feel like love is part of the problem, though she does say, "No, not just for some but for everyone." If we loved people more and money, our nations, and other things less, this might work. However, as a patriot, I don't WANT to love my nation less. I LIKE that I'm willing to die for my nation. I'd like to think I'd be willing to die for God. But the love of these things have caused wars. Love of a LOT of things have caused wars. But I don't want to love most of the things I love any less than I love them. Oh the irony, which is why we have war over these things. And if we only loved people, we would perhaps have more other problems such as environmental problems because we wouldn't care about the environment. Interesting to ponder... Lyrics What the world needs now is love, sweet love It's the only thing that there's just too little of What the world needs now is love, sweet love No, not just for some but for everyone Lord, we don't need another mountain There are mountains and hillsides enough to climb There are oceans and rivers enough to cross Enough to last 'till the end of time What the world needs now is love, sweet love It's the only thing that there's just too little of What the world needs now is love, sweet love No, not just for some but for everyone Lord, we don't need another meadow There are cornfields and wheat fields enough to grow There are sunbeams and moonbeams enough to shine Oh, listen, lord, if you want to know What the world needs now is love, sweet love It's the only thing that there's just too little of What the world needs now is love, sweet love No, not just for some, oh, but just for ever, every, everyone What the world needs now is love, sweet love (oh, is love) What the world needs now is love, sweet love (oh, is love) What the world needs now is love, sweet love (oh, is love) ** Image ID #2100707 Unavailable ** |
