The Blog City Prompt Forum prompt for Monday April 10, 2017 is "Tolstoy tells us writers to “shine with a gentle gleam.” What do you think that gentle gleam is and how can it be applied to writing? Just guess if you are not familiar with Tolstoy. "
I
know nothing about Tolstoy. I believe he wrote "War and Peace" but know nothing about him. As far as his statement I know the application I have for it. I was an editor of a small rag at one time and i have published four books. As a former editor I know that if I am going to submit a manuscript I want to polish it until it shines like the West Virginia State Capitol, which can be seen for miles. If Tolstoy was referring to that I have to agree with him. We can never polish a manuscript too much.
The Blogging Circle of Friends prompt for April 10, 2017 is "Motivational Monday prompt: Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.
Helen Keller What is you opinion on optimism? Is it faith or something else?"
H
elen is correct in her assessment in my opinion. I believe optimism is a strong expression of hope and faith. If we did not have optimism we would accomplish very little. Optimism is the motivation we need to get out of bed each morning and start our day. It is our reason for striving to achieve. If i didn't believe I could accomplish things I would not even try. Optimism gives me that belief. it makes me want to push myself to accomplish bigger and better things. Optimism is the difference between achieving something wonderful and merely breaking even. In fact in many situations where i lacked optimism I did not even break even. I failed because I failed to try. Optimism complels me to try and when i try I find I can accomplish much.
