Wildcard Thursday: The Wayfarer's Journey
Thursday, July 6, 2017

This month, I am reading The Seven Valleys by Baha'u'llah using an app I downloaded to my smartphone. I used to carry the books I read in my shoulder bag or book bag (which ever I decided to carry); however, a year or so ago, I changed to a fanny pack. I cannot carry large books, so whichever book I read has to have an app that I can download for my smartphone. I downloaded three apps: (1) Baha'i Prayers, (2) The Seven Valleys, and the Kitab-i-Iqan. I like the way the app defines a page because it is small enough to read on my phone without scrolling up to another page.

The Wayfarer's Journey

The wayfarer, on the journey of search, passes through numerous valleys and cities seeking the beloved. Though disappointed at every turn, the true wayfarer doesn't give up, but pushes knowing that the next stop may reveal a trace of the beloved. No matter what anyone says, the wayfarer knows that at the end of the journey the beloved waits with open arms.

Words of doubt may rain like arrows in battle, but the wayfarer pushes on. Friends and family may make derogatory allusions, warning about the insanity of the journey, but the wayfarer goes forward. Moving from valley to valley, from city to city, looking at every stop for some sign of the beloved. The wayfarer every footprint discovered on the journey. When the perfume of the beloved wafts from any direction, the wayfarer will move toward the scent.

"A true wayfarer will not be kept back by the bludgeon of words nor debarred by the warning of allusions." Baha'u'llah, The Seven Valleys, page 56 sentence 4 (From an app on my smartphone.)
